No gym equipment? No problem!

Lego man doing pushupsWe often complain about having too little time to get to the gym or otherwise find time to exercise, but in all honesty, we know that just isn’t true.

We also know that regular exercise is important for good health and general well-being.

Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness. — Edward Stanley, Earl of Derby 1873

LifeHacker posted this week about the Lifetime Ladder, a no-equipment-necessary fitness routine that literally anyone can follow. The general outlines for this program were derived from the Royal Canadian Air Force “5BX” exercise program for men and follows a simple, no-nonsense progression (ladder) of exercises that you can perform literally anywhere. The low barrier to entry means that literally anyone can start, and the structured progression ensures that you’ll get fitter and stronger over time. In fact, by the time you are operating at the higher rungs of the ladder, you will quite likely be extremely fit!

Closing thoughts: With just a few minutes a day and literally no equipment at all, you can start a meaningful exercise program that will reduce body fat, improve health and generally advance your quality (and length!) of life. Don’t make excuses and cheat yourself from the positive experience of being fit and healthy.
