I see potential everywhere

I’m lucky enough to have a gym at work, but depending on my split, I still have to train closer to home at the weekends.

For me, that means hitting-up my local 24 Hour Fitness.

Living way in the burbs, east of San Francisco, clientele at the gym skews older; quite a bit older, in fact.

At peak times, you still see groups of jocks congregating around the benching station, but by and large, the majority of the men and women are in their thirties, forties and fifties.

And you know what, a lot of them are pretty darn jacked!

The women especially so.

Many of the women seem knowledgeable, motivated and train really hard. They also seem to have their nutrition in check. I’m seeing compound movements, super-sets, giant-sets and full pull-ups; these ladies work HARD!

Contrast that to the guys.

Without doubt, there are a handful of guys that also seem to have it down, with decent programming and solid form. But there’s a definitely a gap.

For every guy that seems to get it, there’s ten that seem lost. They trudge through the gym, going from station to station, machine to machine. There’s more sitting, TV watching and day-dreaming than training, with rest intervals stretching to minutes at a time.

Sure, there’s a few bumps in the right places, but none are bigger than the bump around their middle. And any muscle they have is covered in their lifestyle choices, and they don’t seem to have the motivation, knowledge or support to break the deadlock.

You know what I see?

Potential

  • The potential to reverse poor lifestyle choices, strip away body fat and pack on lean muscle.
  • The potential to create a physique they can truly be proud of.
  • The potential to break-free from mediocrity and unlock new-found confidence.
  • The potential to look great, to feel great … to BE great.

I should try and do something about that…
